GMail Drive is a free application , an add-on for Google’s Gmail, creates a virtual drive to your computer, using the free space provided by Gmail, where you can store files and documents. GMail drive lets you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from Windows Explorer. It exactly adds a new drive to your PC under My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy, save to it.
GMail Drive incorporates with Windows and can be accessed from inside Windows Explorer. As more than one computer can be connected to the Gmail account at the same time, it can act as a multi-user-file-storage.
Ever since Google started to offer users a Gmail e-mail account, which includes storage space of 8000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. It helps in copying and retrieving the data from Goggle account.
When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an email and sends it to your account. The email appears in your Inbox folder, and the file gets attached as an email attachment. GMail Drive regularly checks your mail account by using the Gmail search function to see if new files have appeared and to fix the directory structures. Basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer.
