Do You Know the 9 Best Xbox Games of 2024?
Ah, Xbox. If you have supported team green since the Xbox 360 days or just recently joined in on the fun with the Xbox Series X and/or Series S, you’re in luck because 2024 has plenty to deliver.
There are plenty of great games to go along with the console so it can be difficult to narrow things down. But, someone has to do the heavy lifting (and by heavy lifting I mean loads of “research” aka playing). So grab your controller, bring up the Xbox app and join us as we sift through the 9 best Xbox games of 2024 that you need to be playing, right now
1. Forza Horizon 5
Get those engines running and perhaps even a Spotify playlist. Let us spark the start with some revVvs. Forza Horizon 5 is the pinnacle of an open world racing experience set in gorgeous sun filled Mexico.
It literally is for car lovers and those who believe 200mph Sundays are how it should feel. If the graphics had any more realism, you would try to wipe dust off your screen. Best of all, it exists on the Xbox Game Pass — so what more can you complain about?
2. Starfield
Like No Man’s Sky, but you don’t have to explain how launch went wrong. Transforming your Xbox Series X (or S) into a spaceship Starfield is all about exploring galaxies, shooting space pirates, and making spaceships that probably shouldn’t fly (mine looks like a toaster).
Bethesda did a correct hit on the space nerd fantasy. Only don’t come to me complaining about not having slept because “one more mission” became a 3am quest.
3. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
From “meh” to “masterpiece.”
You see, remember when Cyberpunk came out and everyone was just like, “Uh, is this done? Anyway, that got fixed, polished and is an absolute killer now. Especially so on Xbox Series X. The Phantom Liberty expansion is that revitalization night city desperately needed. You know those Keanu Reeves neon lights chaos vibes — basically everything we love in a game.
4. Elden Ring
Because who enjoys dying 87 times before breakfast?
Elden Ring is for those of you who love all games that test your patience (and sanity as well). Call it an open world Dark Souls, if you will. It’s beautiful, it’s brutal, and it feels strangely rewarding when you kill a boss.
Pro tip: When in doubt, run. You can always return at a time when your character is less squishy.
5. Microsoft Flight Simulator
“Your captain speaking, we are flying at an altitude of 30,000ft”
Do you wish to see your house from the air without googling its address? Microsoft Flight Simulator is where it can all happen. In fact, it uses the Xbox Series X to build a full-on cockpit within your home. And if you do crash… well that is what the made reset buttons for.
6. Halo Infinite
Return of the Master Chief — now with a grappling hook.
Halo Infinite serves up the sci-fi action we crave after a couple of rocky games. Cliff-swinging, Covenant-bad-guy take-down and galaxy-saving ensue—for the second time.
Double bonus: If you are still stuck on an Xbox One, you can play it there, too. In fact, it looks like chef’s kiss on the Series X.

7. Resident Evil Village
A genre-blend of terror and what-the-fuckology.
Render under boob: If you thought Lady Dimitrescu was scary, her crew is worse; Plausibly the best game of Resident Evil Village is a combination of horrifying, eerie even plain odd. Essentially it is a haunted house… except you are on the trail. Not for the weak, but well worth it. It is yet another showpiece title on the Series X, oh yes
8. Psychonauts 2
Strange, beautiful and all the things in between.
This is for the peculiar gamers out there. Psychonauts 2 feels like a Tim Burton film with extra abilities. It is colourful, original and sometimes, outright weird (in the best way). If you haven’t, get on that Xbox Game Pass and try it out. Believe me, your brain will thank you for that.
9. Sea of Thieves
Ever wanted to live the pirate lifestyle? Pirate devour, exploration, and the intrinsic capacity to incidentally release your friends’ boats afloat in Sea of Thieves. This is a true gem of fun, with a uniquely beautiful art style and consistent updates.
Pro tip: Play with friends. Going pirating alone is a bit lonely.
Wrap-Up
And that is it, Xbox Games coming in future that you need to be playing.) These titles will keep you busy, probably keeping you up late, no matter where you play — Xbox One, Series X or Series S.
Oh, and keep in mind that most of these are available on Xbox Game Pass too. So, what are you waiting for? Crank up the Xbox app, get some snacks and start your gaming marathon. But please do not blame me when your backlog increases quicker than your spare time.
