Of course, they’re all in the commercials, glowing reviews pouring out like a never ceasing stream of sweetened honeyed nectar onto our tongues but what’s the real story for your everyday gamer? 1. The Ultimate Gaming Console for All Ages

For starters — everyone loves the flexibility of the Nintendo Switch. So the Switch OLED—the one that everybody has been talking about. Customers can’t get enough of that beautiful 7-inch OLED display.

For those who love eye-candy games such as Splatoon 3 or Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this screen upgrade will make your eyeballs explode with glee. Get a taste of a brand new level of immersion, and players are all here for it.

However, many people who upgraded from the original Switch to the OLED iteration, would readily tell you it isn’t a great leap. Sure, the display is much brighter, and sure, the kickstand is considerably stiff and firm (bye bye wobbly stand; welcome sturdiness).

However, if you’ve got a Nintendo Switch already and you’re not specifically enamoured with high-end visuals, then the OLED might not be a system you have to purchase.

Okay, now on to the important stuff: Nintendo Switch games. The Switch has titles overflowing from its classic Nintendo franchises — Super Mario, Zelda and Metroid — to third-party staples like Fortnite and Minecraft.

Switch games are hot sellers, but there are a couple of complaints sprinkled in here and there. Others lament the lack of AAA titles pushing the console to its limits.

And so is the Nintendo eShop — as nice as to go in and pick some games, it’s a little um… odd sometimes. As one customer quipped: “I’m out here trying to snag a deal on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not audition for Indiana Jones.”

The Nintendo Switch OLED does a little better on this front but is by no means a home run either. A good portable charger will cost you but trust me, if you are going to play for hours without your heart near home do invest in that.

The Final Word: Is the Nintendo Switch Truly Worth It?

When many consumers have spoken, and it appears the Nintendo Switch has something going for it. The versatility, family gaming options and on-the-go fun are things people love about it.

From solo play on the Switch Lite to visually stunning experiences on the Switch OLED (and the promise of that still-rumored Switch Pro) we can all agree there’s plenty to love here.

Now sure, it isn’t optimal — the battery life can sometimes be an issue, Joycons will drift after a while and there’s still a big question mark surrounding the Switch Pro.

Otherwise, it seems customers are pretty happy to drop some money for a high quality system in the Nintendo Switch. If you are a casual gamer or a dedicated fan, it is a console that will get its claws in you.
